Who we are
Most patients who come to Calivor have tried outpatient psychiatric care before. They describe appointments that felt rushed, treatment plans that rarely got revisited, and never actually seeing a psychiatrist at all. That pattern surfaced repeatedly during Dr. Strom's years on inpatient psychiatric units, and it became the reason Calivor exists.
Dr. Harrison Strom is a board-certified psychiatrist licensed in Connecticut and Massachusetts. He completed his psychiatry residency at Stony Brook Medicine and has delivered academic presentations on complex psychiatric topics including rare medication reactions and behavioral health systems. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and as clinical faculty at the Quinnipiac University Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine. His research has been published in Psychiatry Research.
While mid-level practitioners are well-suited to many clinical situations, patients with complex or treatment-resistant presentations often need the diagnostic depth that only a physician specialist can provide. Calivor was built around that gap.
Dr. Strom works with adults navigating mood disorders, anxiety, ADHD, and complex diagnostic questions, including patients who have not found satisfying answers elsewhere.
The practice operates on a primarily cash-pay basis, a structure that keeps appointments free from the time pressures that insurance reimbursement tends to create. Insurance is being selectively added with care not to compromise that experience. Evening and weekend hours are available, and all appointments are conducted via secure telehealth, making physician-level psychiatric care accessible without leaving home.
